October 2022

Research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that around 3,400 babies in the U.S. die every year while sleeping, often from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or from accidental suffocation or strangulation. In honor of SIDS and Safe Sleep Awareness Month, our new Safe Sleep toolkit focuses on helping parents and caregivers understand and follow the fundamentals of safe sleep. The toolkit contains a customizable press release, newsletter/blog article, social media posts, an image selection guide, graphics, and links to additional resources which provide more information about safe sleep.

The coordinated outreach week for this toolkit is October 24-30, 2022, and includes a webinar featuring a panel of experts on safe sleep (details below). If you haven't done so already, please take some time to add safe sleep to your social media and outreach plans.

Reminder: your membership gives you advanced access to the toolkit, so please do not share this link. We'll send a public link on October 17th, which you are free (and encouraged!) to share with colleagues and friends.
