Prevent Child Injury/T4CIP Webinar: Button Battery Safety
Join Drs. Kris Jatana and Gary Smith from Nationwide Children's Hospital, US CPSC Consumer Ombudsman Jonathan Midgett, PhD, and Trista Hamsmith from Reese's Purpose for an hour-long webinar about button battery safety, hosted by Trainees for Child Injury Prevention and Prevent Child Injury.
Button batteries are small and power many household devices. Their ingestion can lead to serious and sometimes fatal injuries. This webinar will provide insights into the risks, prevention strategies, and the latest regulatory efforts to protect children from button battery injuries.

Safe States: Strengthening Injury and Violence Prevention Through the Core Components ECHO Series
Join Safe States for a Project ECHO series. Over the course of seven sessions, participants will learn from and collaborate with experts and peers to share knowledge, tools, experiences, strategies, and promising practices to strengthen the practice of IVP. Nearly every state in the United States has been affected by a pediatric vehicular heatstroke death. NHTSA's annual campaign helps educate parents and caregivers about the dangers of hot cars, including children getting trapped in an unlocked vehicle, being forgotten or mistakenly left, or purposely left. Prevent Child Injury is encouraging everyone who works with children, families, and caregivers to promote safe storage and handling of button and coin batteries. These tiny batteries are found in most homes and can cause serious internal injuries if swallowed. (Members should have received the toolkit link; toolkit will be made public on May 12.)
