Resource Spotlight: CPS Board Vehicular Heatstroke Prevention
Each year, an average of 37 children lose their lives after being left in hot cars, a heartbreaking and preventable tragedy. While we might hear more about this issue in the summer months, the truth is that many states see temperatures high enough for heatstroke in the other seasons as well. To continue outreach and education efforts year-round, the National Child Passenger Safety Board, managed by National Safety Council, offers a wide variety of materials and activities that address the risks around vehicular heatstroke:
A bank of national resources dedicated to preventing vehicular heatstroke
The Employer Toolkit, including customizable emails, posters, infographics and window cling templates to help build awareness in the workplace
Providing the State Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke Task Force Guide and other support for new and current state task forces
A free online course that documents the three primary circumstances that have led to children dying and what we all can do to prevent these deaths
Check out these materials and more at https://www.cpsboard.org/heatstroke-prevention/.

Content Update: Golf Cart/Low-Speed Vehicle Safety Video Coming Soon
Like many of you, we’ve noticed more golf carts and low-speed vehicles on the streets and in parking lots, and we’ve seen reports of recent injuries and even some deaths related to golf carts. We decided to shift gears to address this emerging issue and created a shareable vertical video on golf cart safety. (This content will replace an “outdoor fun” release.)
Check your inbox on August 11 for an email with a link to the new video!
